“Flee The Evil Desires Of Youth, And Pursue Righeousness, Faith, Love And Peace, Along With Those Who Call On The Lord Out Of A Pure Heart.” (2Timothy 2:22).
Righteousness is the state of moral perfection required by God to enter heaven. However, the Bible clearly states that human beings cannot achieve righteousness through their own efforts: “Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.”. The sin and unrighteousness always look attractive outwardly but the content is of no value.
The evil desires of youth are natural and they are the by-product of our sinful nature. The Apostle is saying that, we should be conscious of this nature and always find a way of fleeing. It is not enough to flee the evil desires of sin, we must run after or pursue righteousness. The evil desires of youth are always appealing and pleasurable. They give self satisfaction and personal pride. However, the outcomes are shame and destruction.
